Especially for vehicle diagnosis in workshop service the requirements are rising steadily. Upcoming data volume in vehicles and the customer’s needs have to be considered. The access to a vehicle with Diagnostics over IP (DoIP) is the key to handle such big data with regard to the communication to a service tool and the IT infrastructure of the OEM.
At the upcoming Automotive Ethernet Congress, (04.-05. February, Munich) Martin Sirch will present the outlines the principles of DoIP and compares classical CAN with Diagnostics over IP. The structure of a diagnostic tester based on standardized components is shown on a high-level view. Main focus are ODX and OTX technology and the respective data management with respect to DoIP as well as the benefits for all involved companies.
Martin Sirch is Product Manager and responsible for the Vehicle Communication Interfaces at Softing Automotive Electronics. Besides this he is active in Business Development to establish standardized solutions in the field of heavy-duty diesel applications.
